City of of Belmont Art & Photographic Awards 2008

The City of Belmont has launched its 2008 Art & Photographic Awards, to be held at Belmont Forum Shopping Centre from 28 July to 9 August offering over $8000 in prizes.

The City is pleased to announce two new sections in the Art Awards, the $3000 Acquisitive Perth Airport Prize for Aboriginal Art, and a $1000 non-acquisitive ‘Aspects of Belmont’ section, in conjunction with the City’s $3000 Open Acquisitive Award.

The City welcomes new major sponsor Perth Airport, and support from Perth Racing, Frame-ography, Belmont Photographics, and Camera Electronic.

Entrants this year will again also have the option to drop off and pick up their work from a point near Fremantle, as well as Belmont Forum Shopping Centre. A special consultant has been appointed to assist with enquiries for the Perth Airport Prize for Aboriginal Art, and entrants in this section have the option of delivering works to the consultant at Central TAFE, Fremantle Prison Annexe, Women’s Prison.

As well as Open and ‘City of Belmont Focus’ sections entrants in the Photographic section will also have the opportunity of being selected for a Sister City Photographic exchange with Adachi, Japan.

The Awards coincide with Youth Arts project which will also be on display at the Belmont Forum Shopping Centre for the duration of the exhibition.
