About Us

The Artist's Chronicle is a bi-monthly arts magazine for artists and collectors in Western Australia. It provides information of interest to artists, art galleries, associated suppliers, services, and art investors.
Articles include current events in the visual arts in Western Australia, as well as those in the eastern states, Europe and America. The magazine was established in 1991 by the Editor, Lyn DiCiero, who recognised a need to circulate information about contemporary arts in Western Australia. The Artist's Chronicle takes an active role in the visual arts offering practical advice as well as being involved in curating and judging of art awards, and provides artist pick up points for country art prizes including the City of Kalgoorlie Boulder Art Prize, offering the dual benefits of significant growth in country art awards and further exhibition opportunites for city artists.

The Artist's Chronicle is an invaluable journal in Western Australia providing current information for a wide range of readers. Many advertisers have continued to utilise the magazine since its first year of publication.

LYN DICIERO, EDITOR

Since establishing the Artist's Chronicle in 1991, Lyn DiCiero has been its Editor and owner. In this role she has written more than a thousand articles about the visual arts on a wide range of subject matter. As well as her role in steering the Artist's Chronicle, she has been involved in curating, developing and judging many art awards in Western Australia, and has been responsible for the development of many regional art awards. Lyn was the Australian Manager for a School of Colour in the 1990s, which included operating distance courses across Australia. She has researched and published two major catalogues for exhibitions, and was commissioned to research and publish the history of Soroptimist International of Fremantle, launched in March 2006 by the Mayor of Fremantle.

In recent years she has Curated the City of Belmont Art & Photographic Awards since 2005, the Boardwalk Sculpture Festival and Awards at Mindarie Marina since 2007, and in 2008 will Curate the City of Rockingham Castaways Sculpture Awards for recycled sculpture. Lyn also documents the art collections of the City of Belmont, the Town of Mosman Park and the City of Rockingham, and serves on the committee for the Friends of Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery at the University of Western Australia.

With the aim of developing further understanding and knowledge of the visual arts in the wider community she has created FASTRACK ART, a unique course where Lyn shares more than twenty years' experience in the visual arts together with colleagues and art organisations. The course is aimed at local government staff who regularly encounter art and art events, yet feel their basic knowledge in the field is lacking.
